The name of this bottom-fermented beer is a reference to the historic brick facade of our malt house in Bamberg, which dates back to the turn of the 20th century.

The name of the lager is also reflected in its appearance, namely bright red and crowned with a white, firm head. The special malts used are immediately recognizable by their expressive character . The fine caramel notes paired with pleasant bread crust and mild honey blend smoothly into the overall picture.

The finish surprises with its lightness. Subtle smoky notes combine with the fruity components of pear and peach from the hops to create a real treat for the palate.

We recommend pairing this beer with game with cranberries, poultry, as well as light desserts and soft cheeses such as Camembert and Brie.

Sticke Alt – an unusual name for an unusual beer. The name is derived from “stickum,” which means that the master brewer was “secretly” a little more generous when weighing his raw ingredients. This is how the stronger version of Düsseldorf's Altbier, the Sticke, came into being.

This chestnut-brown beer with a fine, cream-colored head delights with classic aromas of fresh caramel, delicate nougat, and roasted nuts, complemented by a mild hint of pine needles and citrus.

This orange-colored, non-alcoholic ale is top fermented with a special yeast that metabolizes only a fraction of the total amount of malt sugars in the wort, thus resulting in a beer with a smooth malty taste and finish and plenty of residual sweetness. This sweetness, however, is balanced by some Weyermann® acidulated malt and Sour wort in the kettle, as well as generous additions of hops to the kettle, whirlpool, and dry-hopped. The hop additions are equally divided between Columbus and Centennial. They lend slightly resinous notes of pine, grapefruit, pepper which give the beer an earthy and refreshing bitterness, a surprisingly slender mouthfeel, and a delicate dry finish.

Pair this ale with a curry dish, a baked trout or perch, or a mandarin cheesecake.

While Bockbiers tend to be hefty winter lagers with a color of deep mahogany to dark, the Maibock (Mai is German for May) is brilliantly amber. It is the perfect transition beer for the brief time in spring when it is already too light to hide in the dark recesses of a beer hall, but still too nippy to linger outside in a beer garden with a mug of Helles. While the ABV of this strong spring brew is a bock-like 7.2 %, the body is lean, and the finish is surprisingly refreshing. The taste is a pleasant balance between a solid maltiness from Barke® malts with deep genetic roots in classic barley varieties and a gently aromatic bitterness from classic noble hop landraces.

Bamberger Hofbräu Pils is a brilliantly golden, classic German lager from the last century. It was once the cornerstone of the portfolio of the Bamberger Hofbräu brewery, which was founded in 1885. The brewery closed its doors in 1977.

Barke® has deep and rich malt aromas reminiscent of hay, straw, cereals, and toffee, as well as superior processing characteristics in both the malt and the brew house. In the Bamberger Hofbräu Pils, the typical Barke® aromas commingle well with the noble bitterness and the herbal, floral, and fruity aromas of hops. The beer ́s finish is slightly viniferous with notes of herbs and citrus.

This almost pitch-black, bottom-fermented, strong brew catches the eye with its deep ruby-red sheen and crown of firm, dark foam. The bouquet of hints of bay leaf, along with some dark cherry, plum, chocolate, and roast. On the palate, these notes are carried into a surprisingly soft and well-rounded maltiness with a slightly honey-like but restrained residual sweetness. The mouthfeel is predominantly creamy, making the beer pleasantly drinkable in spite of its
substantial alcohol content of 7 percent.

At the table, this dark brew is an excellent companion to roast beef, as well as braised or stewed game or fowl served with a hearty vegetable. It also complements flavorful desserts, such as blueberry cake or a dark, bitter-sweet mousse-au-chocolat served with plumpreserve.

The classic ale was the favorite tipple of early 18th-century London day laborers called porters. Though it was a roughneck brew, it was surprisingly balanced and elegantly smooth, with a “quaffing” alcohol content of just above 5 percent. Deep black, with a ruby hue and topped by a brownish to cream- colored head. The Weyermann® version is an authentic interpretation of this pre-industrial working-class ale. Its soft Weyermann® Vienna and caramel malts give it a harmonious flavor and easy drinkability, while English and Slovenian aroma hops contribute fruity notes of cherry and black currant. A smidgen of de-husked Weyermann® roasted malt adds a mild background of dark chocolate that lingers well into the finish.
